In this research project, I determined that it is, in fact, possible to predict a student’s level of interest in a given educational activity based on brain scan readings alone.
To come to this conclusion, I bought an EEG scanner, recruited a group of students to read various articles while having their brainwaves recorded, and then trained several machine learning algorithms to predict who was interested in what they were reading based solely on brain scan data.
I found this topic incredibly interesting because I love the idea of applying AI and machine learning in order to make people’s lives tangibly better. I believe that much of the future of education will be computerized and automated, and this research points towards a future where an educational system will be able to use the brain scan data of students to significantly boost their learning by optimizing interest level, engagement, and more.
